As a part of Psychosocial Support Team’s recreational activities at SARC Swaida Branch, the team dedicated an activity to promote oral and dental health care for the students of Fozi Mezher and Kamel Srewi schools in Ateel village. Various drawings and brochures used to explain the importance of dental hygiene during the activity. At the end, the team distributed toothbrushes and toothpaste to 800 children through the beloved character Santa Clause.
In order to improve livelihoods for the affected families, the livelihoods team at SARC – Swaida Branch launched their first developmental project through distributing chickpea seeds and fertilizer in 7 villages in Swaida Governorate so far (Al Mazraa – Al Mashqouq – Al Thaala – Mafa’aleh – Al A’afineh – Ira and Al Mjemir )with beneficiaries of 951 families. The team will continue on working to support more farmers in other villages and areas till the end of planting season this year. Marah (11 years old) cheerful smile was a reaction to hearing sounds for the first time. The little girl had a disability of severe hearing loss, but now she she is able to hear and to discover the world around her after providing her with a hearing aid within the joint cooperation programme between SARC and International Medical Corps IMC. SARC also will support Marah through a speech-language therapy program.
For their objective in building children’s confidence and help them expressing themselves and communicating effectively with others, the Psychosocial Support Team at Syrian Arab Red Crescent Sweida – Branch launched various activities for schools” children in Swaida, including the deaf-mutism center and the brain disorders and hearing disability centers in Swaida, Shahba’ and Alkurrya.
Distribution team in SARC Latakia branch responded to the people’s needs of Latakia countryside. During the two week response the teamdelivered and distributed food baskets for more than 2120 families living in the villages (Zama – Janata – Matwar – Harf Matwar- Bit Qahtan – Karm Ziadieh – Derotan -Harf Almsetrh- Ain Alhayat – Sfvkia).
