A joint team of Syrian Arab Red Crescent – Aleppo branch and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees delivered shipments of humanitarian aid to eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo city. This was carried out by collaboration of UNHCR delegation in Syria, SARC’s Aleppo branch director and some board members along with the efforts of 42 volunteers passing through Bustan AlQasr – AlMasharqa Humanitarian Crossing Point and by using primitive means of transportation.
Delivered aid included 15 hospital beds, several chronic medicines and pediatric syrups. These supplies, which are supported by UNHCR, will help meet the needs of 5000 to 6000 patients. They also delivered 150 food parcels, supported by WFP, as well as winter clothing and distributed them to 2000 children in some schools.
After crossing to the eastern part of Aleppo, several meetings were held with various parties discussing humanitarian affairs and means of delivering humanitarian aid to people in need within Red Crescent’s fundamental principles. The SARC – UNHCR joint team also attended a psycho-social support activity and the distribution of winter clothes to 355 children at Zaki Juma’a School in AlSukkari.[g_slider2 source=”media: 3511,3517,3513,3510,3515,3516,3512,3514″ height=”200″ pages=”no”]Ms. Marianne Gasser, the head of International Committee of Red Cross delegation in Syria, conducted a meeting with Syrian Arab Red Crescent – Aleppo branch’s management and field team leaders in the branch.[/g_slider2]
