Sphere is a set of principles and minimum humanitarian standards that promote quality and accountability. It was initiated by a group of humanitarian NGOs and the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, based on their belief that crisis-affected people have a right to life with dignity and therefore a right to assistance and protection, and that all possible steps should be taken to reduce the suffering arising out of those crises.

The volunteers learned to how to use the Sphere handbook in humanitarian response to emergency crises, as well as in disaster preparedness and early recovery.
Plans and scenarios
While implementing case studies, virtual scenarios of disaster response were created, in which the volunteers acquired skills of planning and coordinating with different authorities on the ground, and technical information that ensure improving the quality of their humanitarian response.
Various activities
Over the four days of training, the volunteers along with the trainers used different approaches to brief and present information in the most efficient way for enhancing the skills of the volunteers within disaster responses, and they performed simulation activities which enabled them to experience close to real situations and be held to account for their actions.
