On March 2017, SARC Damascus Disaster Management Unit finished two training courses on the principles of disaster management within 5 days for each.
The courses aimed to develop the skills of the volunteers and improve their abilities on responding and high preparedness in order to help those affected everywhere.
The topics included a brief on the principles of the International Movement and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the concept of disaster preparedness, emergency needs assessment, water and sanitation, hygiene promotion, restoring family links, livelihoods and logistics.
The two courses were carried out and supervised by trainers from SARC’s branches (Damascus, Homs and Rural Damascus) with participation of 46 volunteers from the First Aid Squads, Psychosocial Support Project, Humanitarian Support Project, Disaster Management Unit.
