With an aim to promote sources of livelihood for the injured who are registered in the physical rehabilitation project, Aleppo branch of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross has started a new project to improve the living of this affected group through SARC – Aleppo’s livelihood team. The project started with familiarization sessions for people benefitting from it at centers of SARC – Aleppo and ICRC (Physical Rehabilitation), who had finished receiving the treatment in the center. Sessions involved explaining the project’s goal, how to apply for an enterprise and acceptance criteria. A SARC – ICRC joint team paid field visits to 12 of the attendances who applied for small enterprises posterior to those sessions. Ten enterprises were accepted. The team held training workshops on how to draw an effective plan to reach a best performance while implementing their ideas. The practical part of the project was distributing the raw materials for four accepted enterprises (making clothes, working with needlework shops and copying teaching visual aid). Raw materials included fabric, kitting machines, a laptop, CDs and CD copiers. The other enterprises will get the raw materials later on. It is mention worthy that livelihood project aims to mobilize individuals, facing living obstacles, making job opportunities and promoting sustainable solutions via empowering economics.
