Netherlands Red Cross visit to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent

A delegation from the Netherlands Red Cross consists of  Mrs. Hanna Emmering, Press Officer for the NRC, Mr. Gijs de Vries (CEO) and Mr. Juriaan Lahr (Head International Operations) paid a visit to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent from the 29th of August till 2nd of Sept, 2014 to conduct a field visit at SARC’s centers and identify the needs.

The visit started with field tour to SARC’s centers in Homs governorate and a visit to the old city of Homs.

The Netherlands Red Cross (NRC) also visited SARC centers in Damascus including the operation center in Zahira, the Central Relief center in al-Maisat, SARC’s garage in Barniyah, Humanitarian Support Project, Child Protection Center and SARC’s psychological clinics.

The delegation also met with Dr. Abdul Rahman Attar, the President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, who stressed the importance of the humanitarian situation as it is on the ground and all the work SARC is doing to address these needs.

The NRC plans to start an appeal in the Netherlands for the benefit of Syria, South Sudan and Central African Republic.
