Medical services for 26 thousand people in Sahnaya

Medical services for 26 thousand people in Sahnaya

February 18, 2018
in Rural Damascus
1 min read

SARC Sahnaya dispensary treated 26 thousand people and provided them with free medicine during the last five years, where 100 patients visit these clinics every day: (internal, gynecology and pediatric).

The director of the dispensary clarified that most cases suffer seasonal and chronic diseases, while other cases require specialized centers such as amputation, skin burns and cardiovascular disease.

In the internal clinic, Abu-Ursan (83 years) waits for his turn to get medical check up and medicine. He has suffered stress and tension   because he lost his home in Yarmouk camp.

Where in the anteroom, Um Juma’a sits waiting to receive medicine for her disabled husband after they  moved frequently with their eight children between Aleppo and Rural Raqqa, but reclocted finally in Sahnaya at a Shelter supported by Red Crescent volunteers.

Rafif, Diyala and Mohammed also visit the pediatric clinic, because they have cold and bronchitis, as they used to live in a small room with a worn out ceiling that leaks water during rainy weather. However, their mother is looking for a nearby Shelter to protect them.

The dispensary is supported by Danish Red Cross (DRC)
