The Syrian Arab Red CrescentQounitera branch carried out various activities and services in January 2015. These services were delivered by the branch and its sub-branches in Hadar and Al-Bteha areas.
Relief
Syrian Arab Red Crescent tried to cover the affected people’s needs of in almost all the areas in the governorate, they distributed relief materials to 10000 person in the shelters and residents places.
The disaster management team contributed removing the snow from the roads during the last snowy storm.
11000 Beneficiary family from Syrian Arab Red Crescent relief materials in Quneitra, included 62688 person and 36462 of them are children.
Health
First Aid Services
Syrian Arab Red Crescent first aid team in Quneitra responded to many cases in Jnauary especially during the snowy storm. They transferred 30 patients, some in the governorate and others from Quneitra to Damascus hospitals.
Mobile health unit:
The mobile clinic in Quneitra branch provided free medical prescriptions to patients all over the governorate in shelters and residents areas. They registered about 800 patients in January at (Khan Arnabah, Al Koom, Al Sndianah, Al Baath city, Ain Aiesha, Ain Al Norea, Al Mshaa) areas.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH)
Due to the frequent interruptions of the electricity which in turn affects water delivery process, water and sanitation team in Quneitra branch worked on providing water to about 17000 person in shelters and residents in the area throughout January.
The team also equipped Al Saaka shelter -in Al Koom area- with facilities of showers, water tanks and heaters so to ensure good living conditions for people there.
In the same context ICRC delegation visited some shelters in Quneitra to evaluate the people’s needs. They visited Al Atem shelter in Al koom, Qasim Al Shaabni shelter in Gaba area.
Psycho-social Support
The Psycho-social support team continues their activities in school and shelters in the governorate. During January they carried out sessions of psychosocial support to children between (8-13) years, and for adolescents. 190 children were benefited from the mentioned psycho-social support services.
The team also adressed 35 mothers within a program that provide mothers’ direct-psychosocial support which contained activities about dealing with children ways and Knitting wool works.
