The Syrian Arab Red Crescent and in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund organized a training workshop on “Community-based psychosocial support”. The five day workshop, which brought together 22 volunteer, aimed to support attendants with basics and conceptions of the psycho-social support. The training will empower the volunteers to conduct their missions in accordance with SARC’s fundamental principles. The interactive workshop was launched on 18- 22/10/2015, and included activities which targeted children.
Damascus (ICRC/SARC) – The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), together with the United Nations, have delivered lifesaving medical items to treat seriously injured and sick patients in the besieged towns of Zabadani and Madaya in rural Damascus. Simultaneously, SARC delivered relief items to the besieged towns of Foua and Kifraya in northwestern Syria’s Idleb governorate. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) organization held a meeting with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) Societies, and the National Societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent on Oct 11th 2015. The Disaster Management Unit (DMU) of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent- Damascus branch managed to deliver 5000 bread sack to Qoudssaia area on the 1st of October 2015. The mission was carried out accordance to the mutual program with the International Committee of the Red Cross, and in coordination with the Reconciliation Committees and the Relief Sub-committee. The DMU squads monitored the whole process and ensured that the bread is delivered to the most vulnerable residents and to the displaced people in five sheltering centers there.
Director of the Middle East and North Africa zone for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societiesو Mr. Elias Ghanem visited the Syrian Arab Red Crescent on Sep 16th 2015, and met with Dr. Abdulrahman Attar, President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC).
