The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) is an independent humanitarian organisation of public utility, is permanent and continuous, and has a legal entity and enjoys financial and administrative independence.
SARC was founded in 1942 according to the decrees No/540/ 1942 and No/117/ 1966 which regulate the Organisation’s work. It was recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva (ICRC) in 1946, and is committed to upholding the Geneva Conventions and the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies.

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent is seeking to recruit a: 

Telecom Engineer (based in SARC Head Quarter, Damascus, Abu Remmaneh)  

 

Tasks 

  • Designs, installs, tests and commissions various telecommunications systems such as Radio networks, WAN networks, IP PBX or VSAT. 
  • Drafts specifications and standards for telecommunications equipment. 
  • Provides support for the development of technical specifications for procurement of equipment; evaluates vendor proposals, performs tests, and recommends selection of telecommunications equipment. 
  • Establishes performance standards for telecommunications equipment and services and recommends corrective measures to improve service quality and operational performance. 
  • Provides planning support for rapid set-up and operations of communications infrastructure from “scratch” at local and wide area levels, including visiting regional sites and SARC branches for technical reconnaissance missions. 
  • Provides engineering services related to planning, implementation, and maintenance of local and wide area telecommunications networks.  
  • Provides emergency communications capabilities in support of staff security. 
  • Collaborates with HR in the preparation of training modules and other training activities in all aspects of communications technology usage. 
  • Prepares and makes presentations on telecommunications networks and equipment to staff.   
  • Supervises staff/technicians as required in HQ and branches. 
  • Performs other related duties as required. 

 

Requirements 

  • Telecommunications engineering graduate of an accredited University 
  • 2 years of working experience in a similar position 
  • Very good knowledge in Telecommunications (VHF, HF, VSATs, PBX, Telephony, etc.) 
  • Proven good competences in Enterprise grade Networking technologies (wired, Wireless, TCP/IP protocols, switching, Routing, SD-WAN, SD-LAN, etc.) 
  • good language skill in English. 
  • Strong general computer and network knowledge. 
  • ability to travel to all Syrian governorates 
  • Valid Passport.

  • Good analytical and organizational skills 
  • Sense of responsibility and ability to take initiative and work independently. 
  • Willingness of self-education in ICT-related fields. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Flexibility and resistance to stress. 
  • Be able to travel within Syria. 
  • Able to write clear and concise reports, procedures, and quality documents.
