Damascus – 23-9-2014
The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) received 10 tractors and mutli-purpose trailers, two employees’ buses, and two cars as a donation from the Office of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support its humanitarian and relief mission in Syria.
The SARC’s president Dr. Abdul-Rahman Attar emphasized on the importance of this donation in helping the organization’s branches on the Syrian territories to provide services to people who have been affected by the crisis and those who are in need.
He pointed out that this batch will be distributed in the provinces of Homs, Damascus Countryside, Daraa, and Aleppo to contribute to collecting rubbish, spraying pesticides and distributing water through water tanks that will be installed on tractors.
For his part, UNHCR representative Tarik Kurdi said that the donation came within the framework of the UNHCR’s strategy to enhance the capabilities of the SARC and step up to a new stage of partnership.
