The Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation supported The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) with 12 equipped ambulances on July 18, 2016. Due to the dire need 7 of these ambulances will handover to SARC Aleppo branch while the rest will be distributed to the other branches.
The delivery process was attended by Dr. Attar, President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Ambassador Manuel Bessler, Delegate of the Swiss Federal Council for Humanitarian Aid and Head of Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit, Mr. Thomas Oertle, Head of Division Middle East and North Africa, Mr. Manuel Etter, Regional Head of Cooperation of the SDC in Amman, Mr. Henri Markus Stalder, Programme Officer for Syria of the SDC in Amman and Mrs. Melanie Blanc, Programme Officer Syria in the Middle East and North Africa Division.
Dr. Attar declared that “the donation of these ambulances is the first initiative of the cooperation between the agency and SARC organization who works in support to the Syrian Ministry of Health especially within the current prevailing crisis in Syria.”
Mr. Ambassador Manuel Bessler confirmed that the mentioned ambulances are a gift from the Swiss people to alleviate the Syrian people sufferings and to support the first aid system in SARC which exerts essential and important efforts on ground.
It is worth to mention that this process came within the mutual work agreement which was signed by the Agency and SARC on Feb 24th, 2016.
