SARC celebrates International Volunteer Day

Under the patronage of Mr. Hussein Makhlouf, Minister of Local Administration and Environment and Head of the Relief Higher Committee, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent organization organized an event on the occasion of the International volunteers’ day on 5/12/2016. The event was attended by Dr. Faysal Al-Mikdad, Deputy of the Minister Affairs, Dr. Nizar Wihby, Mister of Health, representatives of diplomatic delegations in Damascus, International Federation of the Red Cross, United Nation Offices and the active International Non-Government organizations in Syria.

In his word Dr. Abdulrahman Attar, President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Organization, confirmed the values of the humanitarian work. “Those volunteers who carry SARC emblem on their vests leaving their original names at home and replacing it with numbers as identities all over Syria, they face fear and pain, they carry their sacrifice in hand and carry wounded people on their shoulders in order to save others’ souls and do their humanitarian duty” He said.

He extended heartfelt greetings to all SARC volunteers and considered them “the ideal representative of Syria as they save people and provide help to the needy families throughout the last five years” He noted that until now, SARC has offered 57 martyrs who lost their lives in line of the humanitarian noble duty.

In turn, Local Administration Minister Hussein Makhlouf said that the SARC cadres set a brilliant example of sacrifice, devotion and humanitarian work.

Batoul Al-Ra’ay, a volunteer in SARC, gave her word on the occasion. She assured that she and her colleague volunteers work on responding to the appeal their country, which suffer harsh circumstances,  and help those in need. She clarified that SARC represents ethics of loyalty and volunteerism through which they can make a difference in their society.

During the event, a documentary movie was screened to show in four minutes the various efforts exerted by SARC staff in emergency, relief and humanitarian fields all over Syria,
