The Syrian Arab Red Crescent Quneitra branch carried out various activities and services in February 2015. These services were delivered by the main branch and its sub-branches in Hadar and Al-Bteha areas.
Highlights:
18000 family- 100800 person- Benefited from Syrian Arab Red Crescent relief materials in Quneitra.
There are more than 25 shelters distributed in Al Quneitra. However, SARC’s Quneitra branch supports 12 of them, while the other 13 one are in unsafe areas and can’t be reached.
Health
-First Aid Services:
First aid teams in Syrian Arab Red Crescent responded during February to 17 cases within the governorate. Due to the events witnessed recently at Al Wafeeden camp, the teams established an emergency aid point and transferred 60 cases to the hospitals in Damascus.
-Mobile health unit:
The mobile health unit worked all over the governorate at (Khan Arnabah, Al Koom, Al Sndianah, Al Baath city, Ain Aiesha, Ain Al Norea, Al Mshaa) areas.
They provided 961 free prescription to patients during February 2015.
Also SARC’s volunteers in Al Boteha sub-branch supported more than 200 patients with free medicines.
-Relief:
-Syrian Arab Red Crescent covered the needs of affected people in almost all the areas in the governorate, they distributed relief materials to 100800 person in the shelters and residents places through February.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH)
Water and Sanitation team in Quneitra branch worked on providing water to about 32000 person in shelters and local residents throughout February.
The team with cooperation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, delivered a generator with 150 K.V.R to the bakery in Quneitra.
Also within sterilize drinking water plan, the water and sanitation team distributed pills to sterilize water to all shelters in Quneitra.
Psycho-social Support
The activities of the Psycho-social Support team focused during February at Hani Quider school at Khan Arnabah area.
The number of the benefit children reached 377 with ages ranged between 6-15 year old.
The activities varied between (free and direct drawing- focus playing-grouped playing…) the team also distributed gifts to children.
Also the Psycho-social Support team in Al Boteha sub-branch organized many activities in Al Wafedeen shelters, included team games and focus games for about 80 children.
communication team:
SARC’s Quneitra communication team started in February many activities aiming to spread out the International Humanitarian Law principles. It contained a work shop in Al Boteha sub-branch, with 30 volunteers.
on the other hand, SARC’s Quneitra communication team provided more than 250 person with brochures on IHL and International Red Cross Red Crescent movement principles .
