Nada challenges all difficulties and back to school
Her smile reveals a strong determination
Behind the tender smile, Nada hides a strong determination that helped her endure the difficulties she has faced at a very young age. The 8 years old child and her family had been forced to leave their home in Ar-Rastan (Homs) to a safer place, and she had been seriously injured by shrapnel that cost her a leg amputee.
Hopes are about to fade out
The aches of the injury and pains of losing a limb were unbearable for the little girl. She had to drop off school and stay at home for recovery. Even when the Syrian Arab Red Crescent helped her getting an artificial limb and got back to school, she was exposed to bullying and suffered psychological distress that led her to isolate herself with feelings of loneliness and depression. She decided to quit school forever.
Determination leads to success
Her parents have never lost hope. They have carried her to SARC’s community center in Ar-Rastan where she got medical crutches and needed physical training. Finally, she managed to back to school with full self-confidence.
She worked hard and attended the remedial classes organized by the community center that helped her catch up on core subjects. She proved herself as a successful recognized student and changed into an interactive child among classmates thanks to the entertaining and educational activities she enrolled in at the mentioned center.
