In the beginning of the crisis, we were in need assistance. Now after the livelihood project, we can provide assistance” Nabih Shabban says. Nabih is a father of five children who lost his lower limb before the crisis. He, similar to many people in Homs, was affected by the crisis and displaced as he fled Homs and left his work. He used to play basketball in Salam Club for Special needs people where his friend told him about the services provided by SARC the people with special needs. He attended SARC center where the team provided him with an artificial limb. Moreover, SARC livelihood team supported him with the needed equipment to restart his career (repairing watches and selling perfumes). He says “When you work you become a happy man because you make money by yourself, thank God, I am fine now as I managed to cope with my disability and these hard times.” Nabih hopes that his business grows up.
Livelihood Project for returning families to Homs Old City is a joint project between SARC and ICRC. It aims to help returnees families facing the difficulties through enhancing their livelihood.
