Having a home garden gives a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature around the house, and most importantly to eat healthy, by growing fresh vegetables in it.
Since its launch by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent in 2017, the Home Garden project has helped thousands of farmers in Sweida governorate boost their productivity, and achieve food security.

Health benefits ensured by clean food

The Home Garden grant consists of: 10 varieties of summer and winter seeds, agricultural equipment, 10 kg of fertilizer, and a drip irrigation network, all ensure the production of healthy and nutritious vegetables throughout the year.
Um Firas, one of the recipients said, expressing her satisfaction with the outcomes of the grant: “I may have to buy vegetables at the market once in 3 months, but the taste of my vegetables is the best.”

A Production that guarantees self-sufficiency and extra income

The project was started 6 years ago with the support of ICRC, and in cooperation with the Directorate of Agriculture, and it has reached 4000 people from 65 villages until late last year.
According to another recipient, Mr. Rashad, the grants have enabled them to achieve self-sufficiency, also the drip irrigation greatly assist in producing a surplus to sell on the market, and thereby improve their living conditions.
