On the occasion of the World Health Day – April 7th, SARC’s hygiene promotion team along with the PSS mobile teams of the joint project (SARC – UNICEF) held health awareness activities in several shelters.
Activities, which benefited 3182 children, were aimed to improve self-hygiene behaviors and establish hygiene basic rules, such as how to correctly use the toothbrush and take care of teeth health as well as highlighting the importance of cleanliness and its positive outcomes on their wellness.
The mentioed activities targeted 14 shelters including Aksh Hotel in Suq Al-Intaj, Sulaiman Al-Khater School in Salah Addin, Al-Bara’a Mosque in Al-Athamiya, Hanano building and Al-Hikma and Mo’awiya Schools in Al-Masharqa, Al-Itihad area, Maysar Al-Naqib School in Al-Hamdaniya, Higher Education School in Al-Zahra’a, Khalil Hendawi School in Al-Jabriya, Al-Ghassaniya School in Al-Sayed Ali and Sina School in Al-Serian.
The activities also involved awareness raise sessions for mothers that targeted 28 mothers and discussed how to treat and store water at homes as well as the importance of keeping children clean to protect them from infections and other diseases.
