Hundreds of the most vulnerable people in Douma, Rural Damascus, depend on breeding livestock and agriculture; but the crazy high prices of fodder items forced them to sell the livestock (particularly sheep) and to look for other livelihood sources.
The Syrian Arab Red Crescent volunteers observed the problem and started working on the solutions. They assessed the situations of the targeted families based on two criteria:
The livelihood sources (breeding livestock)
The family should have at least two and not more than 10 sheep

On the day that Santa Clause goes around distributing gifts for children, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent were distributing a different type of gifts to the most vulnerable people in Douma. They have supported 200 families with the fodder needed to raise their sheep and secure their livelihood with the support of the ICRC. The grant consisted of
- 600 Kg of combined fodder
- 200 Kg barley
- 9 trays specific for barley plantation
