Dr. Attar Welcomes UN High Commissioner for Refugees

Dr. Abdulrahman Attar, President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), received Mr. Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, in Al-Zahera center where the United Nation High Commission for Refugee (UNHCR) presented 7 ambulances to Syrian Arab Red Crescent – First Aid Squad on Thu, Jan 21st 2016.

“These cars are to supplement SARC’s first aid system which had more than 45 ambulances serving SARC health centers all over the Syrian governorates”   Dr. Attar said.

“The cooperation between SARC and UNHCR date back to more than 10 years when together provided humanitarian aid to our Iraqis and Lebanese brothers. At that time, more than 1.5 m Iraqi refugee and more than 400.000 Lebanese one were received among the Syrian community and there was no need for camps set up” He added.

During the visit, Mr. Grandi was briefed on SARC’s services of first aid, Dialysis unit and the psychosocial support.

Mr. Grandi admired the high efficiency of SARC’s volunteers and employees. He praised the huge efforts exerted by SARC, who is considered UNHCR’s biggest humanitarian partner in Syria. He also stressed the commitment of the High Commission to help affected people all over Syria.[g_slider2 source=”media: 16730,16729,16731,16732″]
