A plane carrying the first batch of humanitarian aid presented by the Czech Red Cross to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) arrived on Sunday, June 05, 2016 at Damascus International Airport.
Dr. Abdulrahman Attar, President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and Mrs. Eva Filipi, Czech Ambassador in Damascus, received Mr. Marek Jukl, president of the Czech Red Cross and Dr. Josef Konecny, the Secretary General who arrived in accompany with the plane.
Dr. Attar Thanked the Czech people, the government and the Czech Red Cross, noting to the relationship between Czech Red Cross and SARC.
He clarified also that these aid is delivered upon SARC request and in match with SARC’s branch’s needs. He said “Recently, we have delivered humanitarian aid convoys to many hard to reach areas. This aid will be distributed in all Syrian provinces”.
For his part, president of the Czech Red Cross said that this plane is the first batch of humanitarian aid noting that its contents are based on the requirements of SARC.
He added” We are happy visiting Syria and appreciate the role that SARC has been playing since more than five years in serving all Syrian provinces. The Czech Red Cross wanted to help SARC, even with token aid, to perform its humanitarian tasks”.
