Aleppo branch of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent responded to water crisis that Aleppo city suffers from via its water and sanitation team, who carried out a lot of interventions during the last two days. In fact, they spare no efforts to ease people sufferings and support them with water by all means.
They Installed 37 tanks of several capacities in different areas of Aleppo city. The also paid field visits to check wells that had been rehabilitated before by the International Committee of Red Cross and rehabilitate them if needed as well as continuing to install taps
They prepare 9 new well in western parts of Aleppo city as well as 9 wells in eastern parts of the city. As well as, they checked public wells, which were previously assessed, and execute a study for potential tanks to be installed nearby.
water assessment were also put to areas of Al-Sheikh Abo Bakr, al-Ashrafiya, al-Mashrqa, al-Ismaeliya, al-Jamiliya, al-Serian, al-Merdian, al-Hariri, al-Fayd, Suq al-Intaj, near al-Rawda Mossque, al-Akramiya, al-Athamiya and New Aleppo. Then a plan is to be put for installing bladder tanks there to be filled by tankers
Moreover, they monitor water fact in sheltering centers and new places of displacement as al-Riyada, Tishreen Taware and 1070 apartments buildings association as well as assessing the new displacement center for Unit no. 19 in University Camp.
They managed to install three electricity generators, provided by ICRC at pumping stations in economic units in Aleppo countryside and accelerating maintenance work on malfunctioning generators at pumping centers in the countryside.
Finally they continue installing mobile water treatment units (liquid mineral service; LMS) on Quiq River to benefit from sterilized water wasted in the river in cases of pumping faults to be transferred to two Oxfam tanks after installing taps so the affected could be usable.
