Cholera is a bacterial disease that affects humans through contaminated water, causes many symptoms such as diarrhea and dehydration, it also can be fatal if not treated in a timely manner.
Along with the spread of the cholera disease, The #SyrianArabRedCrescent in #Lattakia started a full response campaign through training courses that targeted volunteers and included many health awareness ideas and interactive activities.

A training course for health volunteers

The first course was a training course for 19 volunteers from medical teams, and it included: developing an action plan, explaining the symptoms, causes and methods of cholera prevention, how to assess suspected cases and explain the treatment method of ROS, and its aim was to prepare volunteers to properly communicate messages of awareness to the community.

How the community contributes to cholera response?

Aimed at engaging the local community in this response and raising the individual's health awareness; the volunteers implemented a course that targeted community committees, which in turn; work to assist volunteers in disseminating outreach messages.
In addition to the cholera information and ways of dealing with it; the course included: introducing the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Syrian Arab Red Crescent services in Lattakia, explaining the tasks of health committees, how to facilitate the work of volunteers and intellectuals.
It's important to mention that all of these courses are supported by the #IFRC.
