Ar-Rastan medical point ensures access to free medical services for Um Ebraheem

“I am relieved from the huge burdens and concerns related to the medical treatment costs,” said Um Ebraheem in appreciation of the free medical services provided by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent medical point in Ar-Rastan, Homs.

The thirty-year-old mother recounts the difficult circumstances she faced with her husband and four children, as they were forced to flee for years from their home in Al-Rastan, Rural Homs, to Maarin al-Jabal village in Hama countryside, and live in an unfinished building.

When they returned home, she was suffering from diabetes, which caused her eye damage, in addition to spinal disc herniation. What makes things worse is that she became the only breadwinner for her family as her husband had cerebral hemiplegia palsy. She found herself with four children who needed care, food, treatment, and education.  The costs of the medical treatment, alone, put her in debt to pharmacies, until she heard about the services of the SARC’s medical point in Ar-Rastan.

“When my children got sick or injured, I could not take them to private clinics because of their high cost, but that changed after I visited SARC medical point in the area. Now, I am able to benefit from its free services, especially that of the emergency department and the internal clinic, to check on my health and the health of my husband and children. The clinic provides us with the necessary medicines for free. I was relieved from the huge burdens and concerns related to the medical treatment costs,” said Um Ebraheem.

Um Ebraheem is visiting the clinic regularly, and her last visit was when her son stumbled and got injured in the street. She feels comfortable with the clinic staff who are so kind and respectful, as she said.

It is worth mentioning that the services of SARC medical point in Ar-Rastan are supported by the Danish Red Cross and they include: Departments of the internal, pediatric, laboratory, pharmacy, orthopedical, neurology, urology, gynecology, ophthalmology, emergency, and radiology.
