Within the collaboration framework between the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and the International Committee of the Red Cross, two training workshops were launched on 15/03/2015. The first four-day workshop was titled as “Advanced Course on pumps activation” and was attended by 32 engineers, while the second two-day one was titled as “Map Course” and was attended with 20 volunteers.
The two courses were highly important since they targeted the building capacity of both the engineers and the volunteers. Mr. Firas Farrs, Water Project Coordinator noted that these courses are part of the annual training program of 2015 that match training and capacity building needed for the staff members. “The first course is an explanatory one that clarifies the kinds of water pumps, pumps mechanisms and the pumps selection criterion that should fit both the water The abundance flow the available power capacity. The second course would be of highly beneficial for the staff since it provides them with information related to the work field locations and facilitate their activities” Mr. Farras said.
The workshops also covered issues related to pumps’ assemble, disassemble and maintenance. Mr. Ahmad Maen Al-Ali, Water Affairs Engineer in Al-Hasakeh attended the courses and commented on its importance saying that “The eastern areas depends basically on well as a water source, so we need the water pumps to facilitate or work.
