Children don’t care about weather forecasting news or interested in climatic conditions. But they do care about getting new warm clothes in winter. Therefore, SARC has started distributing winter clothes in Douma, Eastern Ghouta, for children aged between 6 – 16 years during the last few weeks. The clothes kit contains winter jacket, pyjamas, pants, hat, socks, boots and underwear for female provided by the ICRC. The distribution process, which covered 3678 children and 1905 women to date, will be continued during the next week.
The Medical Services Department of SARC in cooperation with UNFPA and in collaboration with Y-Peers held a training workshop about “Peers Education under Humanitarian Conditions” on 30/11/2018. The six-day training aimed to develop the skills of the participants and build their capacities to be promoted as TOT peers education in health fields (productive health, sexual health and healthy behavior). In addition, they have been supported with information to promote health-enhancing change among their peers and the know-how to use the TOT peer education manual. In conjunction with the frost and cold snaps affecting Al-Hassakeh city, SARC Relief aid volunteers started distributing winter clothes kits to 7010 children aged between 1 and 14 years on 7/1/2019. The winter clothes kit contains a winter jacket, sweater, pajamas, pants, hat, scarf, gloves, socks and boots provided by UNICEF.
In cooperation with the city council in Hassakeh, SARC will transfer, on daily basis, 64 M3 of wastes, using 4 trucks provided by SARC branch in Hassakeh, to a waste dump in Abyad area. The 6-month project is supported by ICRC.
