Dr. Abdulrahman Attar, President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), welcomed Mr. Sven Mollekleiv, President of the Norwegian Red Cross at SARC headquarter in Damascus on 20/11/2015. They discussed the active mutual projects in fields of water & sanitation and Relief aspects, and the potentials of development to reach more areas in Syria. Under the title “SARC’s Health Projects Future Planning” a three day training workshop was held on Oct 18th 2015. The workshop, which was organized by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, joined the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and included a revisit to SARC’s projects in heath field “dispensaries, mobile clinics, medical mobile teams, nutrition, psycho-social support, first aid and water & sanitation…” This step came to support experiences exchange among SARC’ branches, and to identify the work mechanisms and future plans in health field. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent and in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund organized a training workshop on “Community-based psychosocial support”. The five day workshop, which brought together 22 volunteer, aimed to support attendants with basics and conceptions of the psycho-social support. The training will empower the volunteers to conduct their missions in accordance with SARC’s fundamental principles. The interactive workshop was launched on 18- 22/10/2015, and included activities which targeted children.
Damascus (ICRC/SARC) – The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), together with the United Nations, have delivered lifesaving medical items to treat seriously injured and sick patients in the besieged towns of Zabadani and Madaya in rural Damascus. Simultaneously, SARC delivered relief items to the besieged towns of Foua and Kifraya in northwestern Syria’s Idleb governorate. A total of 31 trucks of various relief items were delivered to these besieged areas, scene of very heavy fighting in the past months, with little or no humanitarian aid being delivered to 40,000 people trapped… Read More »
