“I like to come to the community centre and attend all activities to win gifts”, says Hala, 8. One of her favorite activities at Al-Ghizlanieh community centre, in Rural Damascus, is the Tree of Wishes. Hala hangs her wish on the branches: “I have many wishes, for example I want to become lawyer when I grow up.”
The Tree of Wishes gives the children an opportunity to express their hopes somewhere. “At least, I can hang my wishes here, on the branches of the tree,” Hala says.
