It was recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva (ICRC) in 1946, and is committed to upholding the Geneva Conventions and the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies.

Purpose of the Job
Together, SARC and Swiss Red Cross have been implementing projects in the areas of health, WASH, livelihoods, emergency response and cash assistance. The project coordinator will contribute to the efficient, effective and sustainable implementation of the on-going and future project activities, in accordance with required quality standards, with the principal aim of addressing beneficiary needs. The main purpose of the project coordinator is to work with the Swiss Red Cross Country Representative to ensure follow-up on the active projects supported by Swiss Red Cross with the related SARC departments, and to facilitate the required SARC internal processes that will support the timely implementation, monitoring and reporting necessary for effective project implementation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Project Support § Support SRC Country Representative in ensuring that the assigned projects are being implemented in line with signed project documents, budgets, logical frameworks, operational plans and monitoring plans. § Ensure that the projects are implemented in accordance with the SRC, SARC and donor policies and guidelines. § Organize regular project review meetings with the respective SARC department to monitor progress of project activities and financial implementation. § Coordinate with SARC HQ departments and branches regarding the production of all reports pertaining to the SRC supported projects. § Regularly liaise with the SARC finance team and SRC Country Representative to ensure timely financial reporting and forecasting is provided to SRC.
§ Undertake regular support and monitoring visits to project sites and participate in project events when required. § Provide support to the SARC branches and relevant staff and volunteers where needed to ensure quality implementation and monitoring of SRC supported projects. § Ensure best practices and lesson learnt are documented. § Participate in field assessments for the development of new projects and actions. § Regularly update SRC Country Representative on project progress, challenges and successes. Administrative, Financial, Procurement and Logistical Support § Along with the SRC Country Representative, monitor project’s financial implementation in coordination with SARC/SRC Finance Coordinator. § Follow up on issues raised by SRC and SARC related to project expenditures. § Coordinate with SRC Country Coordinator and SARC finance and budgeting departments to ensure cash/fund requests and financial reports are submitted within deadlines. § Coordinate with SRC Country Coordinator and SARC Logistics department regarding necessary logistics and procurement activities and processes needed for the effective implementation of SRC supported projects. § Support in the preparation and execution of meetings/workshops for the SRC supported projects with SARC and other RCRC partners, including writing the minutes of meetings. § Support the administrative processes needed to ensure travel into and within Syria for SRC personnel, including support for visas, residencies, hotel booking and vehicle movements. § Provide report translation as feasible and when required. § Ensure the completion and archiving of project documentation and donation certificates as per SRC guidelines. § Ensure the maintenance of an up to date library of SRC in-country assets, project documents, project case studies, articles, videos, and photographs.
Required skills and experience
§ University Degree or equivalent, preferably in the field of Social Sciences or Health Sciences. § At least two years successful track record of humanitarian project management experience, preferably within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and ideally with SARC. § Experience with project cycle management and project management tools, such as logical frameworks, operational plan, indicator tracking, monitoring plans. § Demonstrable experience of project financial management and reporting. § Good and diplomatic verbal communication and interpersonal skills as well as an acceptable level of written communication skills in English and Arabic. § Good IT skills in particular in Microsoft Office Application (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) etc. § Demonstrated ability and effectiveness in dealing with internal and external actors at different levels. § Ability to work independently, including under pressure, in an accountable and responsible manner. § Showing full responsibility for tasks assigned, presenting a motivated and persevering personality with a good spirit of cooperation. § Respecting deadlines and proving an ability to organise a workload comprised of varying and changing tasks and responsibilities. § Willingness and aptitude for humanitarian field work, with availability to travel at short notice to branches and governorates across Syria, including overnight stays when required. § Knowledge of the Red Cross’ fundamental principles and the Red Cross Movements is an added advantage. Working base: Damascus, with regular travel to SARC branches and sub-branches as required. Working languages: Arabic and English
