As the crisis broke out in Syria, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent had increased services to provide and activities to carry out. However, it also showed high attention over the issues of the capacity building through training courses and workshops that attended by its volunteers and staff members in all the Syrian governorates.
Within this context, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent organized a new workshop under the title of “A review to the Relief Project Implementation”. The two days workshop, which was launched in cooperation with the World Food Program, brought together the distribution staff and the reporting staff of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent. The attendants discussed issues related to stores and food items management, the food parcel problems and the possible solutions, items’ selection criteria and the procedures of food items distribution process. They also shed light to the lessons of 2014 and the distribution plan of 2015.
According to Mr. Ali Haider, SARC’s Distribution Manager, the workshop is highly important. “The workshop’s agenda contains significant issues that are aimed to maintain well organized mechanism at work. This mechanism is designed to ensure the food parcels delivery to its targeted beneficiaries in accordance with a clear criterion”. Mr. Haider said.
On the same topic Mr. Usama Bitar, SARC’s Deputy General Manager, confirmed that the close cooperation between the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and the World Food Program brought the workshop to important level. “During the workshop, we addressed various issues on how to satisfy humanitarian needs of food in cooperation with our partner the WFP. We also discussed the distribution process workflow of planning, logistics support, monitoring and delivery to the targeted beneficiaries” Mr. Bitar said.
