According to the volunteers building capacities plans, SARC – Aleppo health promotion in collaboration with IMC held a training course on principles of health promotion for 19 volunteers. The 7 day course involved various subjects; health promotion concept and its essential messages, water and sanitation,hygiene promotion, hygiene-related diseases (lice, leishmania, scabies, hepatitis, diarrheal diseases, influenza, etc…), the role of a health promoter in eliminating out-breaks and epidemics, communication skills, primary assessment to address the needs, and participatory methods of dealing with the community. The course also involved training sessions on different topics; protection, accountability, distribution and sphere project. In addition, the definition of the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and its fundamental principles were discussed. The course was concluding with volunteers presenting and discussing the campaigns they prepared as a homework on one of hygiene promotion topics.
