Back to his driving seat in his small truck, Abo-Alhasan (59 y) restored the everyday life that he has lost for 3 months.

The story started on 18 February 2022. He was watching a football match of Al-Foutoa Club, in which he was a former player when he felt motion difficulty in his right limb that turned into completely motion loss.

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent volunteers transported him immediately to the medical compound in Deir Ezzour city, where his condition was diagnosed as paraplegic resulting from a cerebral hemorrhage caused by a blood flow increase. He stayed 5 days in the hospital.

“I was incapable to do the simplest movement with the unresponsive parts of my body. It was so difficult, but my family and relatives supported me, so I decided not to give up. Moreover, I have a wife and a son; and I need to work and afford them. I had no other choice but to back to my truck and work,” said Abo-Alhasan describing his condition then

Steps towards recovery

To realize his hopes of recovery, Abo-Alhasan went to the SARC physiotherapy clinic in Deir Ezzour. He has received weekly sessions for three months that have helped him improve well. He regained his physical abilities to drive and work.

It is worth mentioning that the SARC- physiotherapy clinic, supported by the IFRC, provides different services: Physical treatment, mobility aid, and air mattresses. Up-to-date, the clinic has received 577 people.
