Job Description: Reporting Officer

Location: Syrian Arab Red Crescent Headquarters, Damascus
Reports to: Reporting Coordinator (Administrative)
Department: Media and Communication

 

Position Summary

The Reporting Officer supports the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Headquarters in producing high quality internal and external reports, consolidating data from different departments and branches, and ensuring that information is accurate, timely, and aligned with SARC’s strategic objectives and donor requirements. The role involves close collaboration with technical units, branches, and partners, while being administratively supervised by the Reporting and Evaluation Coordinator.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Reporting and Documentation
  • Collect, review, and consolidate inputs from SARC departments and branches for periodic situation reports, donor reports, and internal updates.
  • Draft and edit high quality reports in English and Arabic, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency with SARC guidelines and donor requirements.
  • Maintain an updated reporting calendar and ensure timely submission of deliverables.
  • Support the development of annual, quarterly, and ad hoc reports for management, donors, and Movement/partner organizations.
  1. Data and Information Management
  • Verify data accuracy and consistency, working with program focal points and field branches.
  • Ensure standard reporting templates and formats are used across the organization.
  • Maintain a database or filing system for reports, data, and evidence (photos, case studies, statistics).
  1. Other
  • Assist the Reporting and Evaluation Coordinator in strategic reporting initiatives, donor compliance, and lessons learned exercises.
  • Perform other tasks related to reporting and documentation as assigned by the Reporting Coordinator or HQ management.

 

Qualifications and Competencies

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Development Studies, English, Communications, or related field.
  • Master’s degree is an asset.

Experience

  • At least 2–3 years of experience in reporting, documentation, or project management support (preferably in humanitarian or development organizations).
  • Previous experience in drafting donor reports or situation updates is desirable.
  • Experience with humanitarian organizations, Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is an asset.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent drafting and editing skills in both Arabic and English (proven ability to write clearly and concisely).
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex information.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to work with databases and data visualization tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to coordinate across teams.
  • Commitment to the principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and humanitarian values.

Languages

  • Fluency in Arabic and English (oral and written) is required.
