Purpose of Job Description
The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) Livelihood Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring all planned tasks at
branch level for the livelihoods programming are carried out in a timely and professional manner and that sufficient
volunteers are available and committed to do so. He/she will be the key contact for the SARC HQ Livelihoods unit
programming including planning, implementing, monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
Specific Tasks
The Livelihoods Coordinator at SARC Branch is responsible for the following tasks:
Coordinate and organise livelihoods activities including providing logistical and administrative support to the
programme
Organise meetings/mobilizations among the beneficiaries in each Governorate
Select and train volunteers for the livelihoods programming as guided by Damascus.
Prepare weekly reports.
Weekly activity plan.
Organize the tasks of the livelihoods volunteers and organize team work.
Facilitate registration of potential beneficiaries at branch level, working closely with the Livelihoods Field
Officers and Livelihood Coordinator at the Headquarters
Facilitate households assessment as part of the beneficiary selection process
Communicate with beneficiaries in case of complaints, ensuring always to report incidents to the Livelihoods
Field Officer and Livelihoods Coordinator at the headquarters.
Support the livelihoods volunteers with monitoring activities
Closely coordinate with ICRC field structures and IFRC in planning, implementation, monitoring, capacity
building of livelihood team at the branch level, particularly concerning the joint programs that are on-going or
to be planned in future.
Participate in sub-meetings in early recovery and agricultural sectors at Branch level.
Required skills, working experience And Qualifications
4 years certificate as Bachelor’s degree either graduated or in late year is fine majoring (literatures study,
Agriculture Engineering, Veterinary, and Business Administration.)
4 years’ experience working on livelihoods programming
Knowledge of the branch and governorate
An understanding of monitoring and reporting
Experience communicating with beneficiaries
Good level of computer skills including email and internet use
Experience in training and coaching people
An understanding of basic administration, finance and logistics
Knowledge of the RCRC Movement
Reporting lines
Direct reporting to the branch
Technical Reporting to the SARC Livelihoods Coordinator at HQ Level
Other strategic and policy issues to be reported to/consulted with the SARC Assistant Director General via
Branch Director
