Over the past 17 months, Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) in cooperation with World Food Programme (WFP) succeeded in carrying out 309 airdrops of humanitarian relief aid on DeirEzzour city. The aid contained 10,000 tons of relief items (food, yeast, salt, non-food items and medicines), as well as 7,000,000 bread bags supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) which all distributed by SARC volunteers to the local people.
Today, Friday September 8, 2017, SARC volunteers managed to reach the city by land with a humanitarian relief aid convoy (35 trucks loaded with food items, hygiene kits and medicines )supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and 7 trucks loaded with complementary canned food supported by ICRC.
These 42 trucks are the first convoy to reach 80,000 beneficiaries in Deir Ezzor, who have been under siege since more than three years.
Moreover, SARC volunteers in Deir Ezzour will do tremendous efforts to ensure that all people’s needs are met in the coming days.
