In the framework of qualifying new staff of volunteers in health promotion and water teams, SARC – Aleppo branch and in cooperation with UNICEF held a course on principles of health promotion.
The course was held on 5 days for 20 volunteers of Aleppo branch and Al-Safira sub-branch. It involved information on the origin of the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent and its components, the seven fundamental principles, the concept of sectors and the concept of WASH and its priorities in emergencies. It also talked about health promotion, its main message, primary assessment, tools of assessment, communication skills, community based training, participatory ways of acting, learning by experience, safe water, working with children, diseases related to WASH, spreading of diseases, epidemics, outbreaks, the role of health promoter, the aim of the campaign, planning, observation and evaluation. The training also discussed suggestions of trainees regarding health promotion.
