“I used to travel a long distance to get to the doctor, and I ran out of medications for days, before the clinic of the #SyrianArabRedCrescent arrived and relieved me of this burden and big costs,” says Abo Safwan (73y), a diabetic patient who returned to his village Khan-Shaikhoun rural Idleb, after five years of displacement, but he couldn’t find a doctor in his village to monitor his status, he also struggled to get his medications, he recalled that period, saying: “I used to ask people from Hama and its countryside to send me the medicine, which caused a delay in obtaining it sometimes” and he adds: “but after the arrival of the mobile clinic, the medical team started monitoring my condition, and giving me medications on a regular basis, which reduced the burdens of transportation and the financial burdrns as well.”

The mobile clinic of the Red Crescent started visiting Khan-Shaikhoun in 2021, and until year’s end, the medical team covered 7 villages and diagnosed 261 diabetes cases, and since 2022 to date, the team has reached 24 villages and diagnosed 568 cases of diabetes.
