Ten year old Aya was used to bearing responsibilities at an early age, taking care of her 9 siblings after her mother fell ill. She held the responsibility of waking them, playing with them, and taking care of them all day, as well as bringing their hot meals that SARC distributes on time for the families staying at the Dwair shelter.
Aya is excited every day to know what the SARC team will cook for her, as she prefers peas and rice and says, “I wish today’s lunch is my favorite since I had not had my favorite meal in a long time.”
