The one-room house in an unfinished building at Daf-AlSakher neighborhood (Jaramana) was the only haven for Baraa (12 years) and her family who have fled their hometown in Raqqa. “I am the elder child in the family. I collect plastic items and carry it on my head for my father to sell it and purchase some food for us,” the little girl told SARC volunteer.
She still recalls that day when she came back from her school in Raqqa and did not find her clothes, toys or gifts. “Only the walls of the kitchen were left,” said Baraa. Her father wished if she could complete her study but he said, “No one else can help me. The family depends on her”.
This family is not the only one who needs help in Daf-AlSakher, there are many others. Therefore, SARC assessment team managed to secure their necessary needs and distributed essential items (blankets, plastic linoleum, Mattresses and Matts) to more than 2 thousand families in 2017.
