Health Promotion team in SARC Homs branch continues response in Homs countryside in cooperation with ICRC. The team launched a campaign to raise the awareness of the local community and provide them with protective items. The team also held some educational sessions about Leishmaniasis in Al Ferqlous, Rajm Toko and Al Darwishia areas, and distributed 190 mosquito nets to 95 families.
A delegation from the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO) paid a visit to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) on 18-19/7/2017. Mr. Khaled Hbubati, SARC President, welcomed the delegation, who consisted of Dr. Ibrahim A. El-Dowy, Head of Research and Information Center, and Mr. Bashir Errahmani, Media Manager. They visited SARC headquarters and made field tour around Al-Maysat Distribution Center and prosthetics and Handicapped Rehabilitation Center of SARC. It is worth to mention that the visit aimed to estimate the possibility of collaboration between ARCO and SARC.
SARC-Homs Disaster Management Committee held a course about Disaster Management Principles. 27 volunteers from SARC Homs attended the course. The main topics of the courses were the principles of disaster management, the international standards according to the new course book of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC). This course aims to reinforce the volunteers’ ability to be always ready to give a hand to affected people.
The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) received humanitarian medical aid provided by the Czech Red Cross in cooperation with the Czech Government. These aid, which include medical items and equipment were delivered by air and reached Damascus International Airport on 18/7/2017. Mr. Osama Bitar, Director General of SARC, and Ms. Eva Fillipi, Czech Ambassador in Syria welcomed Dr. Josef Konecny, the Secretary General of the Czech Red Cross who arrived in accompany with the plane.
