Syrian Arab Red Crescent- Quneitra branch relief team, in cooperation with Psycho-social support team distributed clothes for children ( 1 – 15 years old.) The clothes which were provided by UNICEF, reached more than 2215 kids since 20th April, in: Jweza, Mshakak, Al Atem, Al Koom, Al Saaeka, Khan Arnabe and Jeba. Head of Management Board of SARC’s Quneitra Branch considered this step foreword to decrease the suffering of displaced people in shelters and residential places and to cover their necessary needs.
The Syrian Arab Red Crescent’s teams keep on supporting Syrian and Palestinian families, who were forced out of their homes in Al-Yarmouk Camp, along with the affected families residing in Yalda, Babbila and Beit Sahem areas. SARC’s management Disaster in Damascus Branch succeeded to deliver the first batch of non-relief items (hygiene kits, children clothes and new baby born kits) in order to be distributed to the affected families in the mentioned areas that total to12.500 family. SARC –Aleppo hygiene promotion team and psycho-social support team responded to lice outbreak in al-Hamdaniya through “No Lice” campaign. “No Lice” involved lice means of transmission, treatment and prevention via several activities. It also included distributing a bottle of lice shampoo to each beneficiary. The campaign targeted the following schools: Adib Zakkur, Maysar al-Naqib, Ihsan Shawqi and Abdul Rahaman Baath. The Number of beneficiaries reached 5810 children and 299 teachers in 10 days.
Counseling Center for Psycho-social Support (SARC – UNICEF) continues holding awareness sessions for pregnant women. The sessions discussed tips and advice on how to take care of themselves and their unborn baby during pregnancy and after deliverance. In this context, the center concluded the fifth course for pregnant which targeted 25 women, so the total numbers of the benefited mothers have reached 125. At the end of those sessions, emergency deliverance kits were distributed with a collection of babies’ clothes, which are all supported by ICRC.
588 children participated in the Open Day event that organized by the hygiene promotion team in SARC’s Homs branch. The event was the final activity of “Together for a better school environment” campaign held in Kafr Aya. The mentioned campaign contained various communicative, competitive and cooperative activities (my tree, competition, washing hands, combine and discover, the treasure, clothesline, my tools and puppet theater). During its first stage, it emphasized on strengthening aspects of “washing hands, dealing with lice and scabies and the general and personal hygiene behaviors” among children.
