Increasing the production capacity of the automatic bakery in Salkhad City requires higher electrical capacity which, the water and sanitation team at SARC-Swaida was able to provide through delivering a new electric generator with the capacity of 315 KVA provided by ICRC to save costs and efforts of fixing the old generator’s failures. The automatic bakery in Salkhad City meet the needs of 160 thousand people in the city of Salkhad and its countryside with a production capacity of 18 tons of flour daily.
Water and sanitation team at SARC-Swaida branch provided 20 submersible water pumps with different capacities, as a part of its joint plan with International Committee of Red Cross for this year, in order to activate the inoperative water wells in Swaida.The team delivered the pumps to Swaida Water Establishment on last month to be installed one by one according to the priorities and the needs of each region. This steep will put the wells into action and increase water provisions.
Supported by International Committee of Red Cross, the water and sanitation team at SARC – Swaida branch provided the second well of Anz with a new submersible pump. The pump was installed in cooperation with Swaida Water Establishment on 26 October. The well backs to service and can secure water to the residents of Anz and Al Ghariyah villages in the western countryside of the governorate with beneficiaries total 11355 people. The pump operates at a high pressure of 650 meters and with a capacity of 30 cubic meters per hour.
In order to provide the people of Sahwat Al-Khudr village with safe drinking water, the water and sanitation team installed three new water tanks provided by ICRC, in several places in the village with the capacity of 25 barrels for each, with the help of Sahwat Al-Khudr sub-branch’s volunteers to set the convenient locations for the water tanks.
The first well in Alkafer Town is put actively in service that would alleviate residents’ suffering of water scarcity and the costs of attaining water supply, providing 15 thousand people with drinking water.The well was equipped by the water and sanitation team at SARC-Swaida Branch, supported by ICRC and in cooperation with Swaida Water Establishment.
