Position title: Project Coordinator
Reports to: MHPSS Manager
Purpose: To support SARC Psychosocial Support Programmes
Main Responsibilities:
The tasks should include but are not necessarily be limited to:
  • Support SARC HQ and branches in establishing, developing and implementing psychosocial activities in community centres and mobile teams according to identified needs
  • Promote standardisation and good practise in psychosocial support
  • Ensure progress of programmes and monitor indicators
  • Provide technical support, supervision and follow-up to the Technical Officers in the Community Centres and in the mobile teams (as required)
  • Review yearly PS activity plans. Review PS monthly plans
  • Undertake regular monitoring visits to PS Centres and Mobile Teams to support volunteers and monitor activities (expected 5-10 visits monthly)
  • Provide technical support and supervision PS staff and volunteers in SARC branches,
  • Support the MHPSS manager in 
    • Orientation in each of the Branches where PS is implemented
    • Assessments, reviews and evaluation of PSP activities
    • Identifying training needs amongst staff and volunteers, which will enhance their performance and provide them with additional skills in PSP related topics and community-based approaches
    • ensure ongoing and systematised support to staff and volunteers
  • Work closely with the PS M&E Coordinator to
    • establish indicators to measure outcomes of PS interventions
    • develop a M&E plan to ensure quality of interventions
Coordination responsibilities:
  • Establish effective working relationships with SARC Branches. Provide PS support to staff and volunteers if requested. .
  • Identify community and government resources and seek to integrate psychosocial support programmes with existing local structures and capacities (if applicable).
  • Coordinate promotional activities, which will enhance the knowledge of the public providing the community information regarding SARC PSP activities, the mandate of SARC and the RC principles
  • Attend psychosocial support coordination meetings and working groups and update funding partner on psychosocial activities in SARC
Duties related to the PNS supported PSS programmes:
  • Ensure implementation of programme plans, policies, procedures, goals and objectives according to the programme document using all available humanand material resources
  • Ensure procurement and financial implementation is in accordance with SARC financial and administrative procedures as well as approved budget
  • Ensure regular and timely narrative and financial progress reports in accordance to the implementation plans (monthly, annual). Revise work plans and budgets quarterly
  • Develop and analyse statistics in accordance to programme indicators and reporting needs
  • Bachelor or master degree in Psychology or Counselling Psychology
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in the field of psychology/psychosocial support
  • Experience with programme planning, management, monitoring and evaluation
  • Understanding of the psychological impact of conflicts/disasters on beneficiaries
  • Knowledge of protection issues
  • Experience in team building, volunteer and staff support
  • Experience working as staff or volunteer for the Red Cross/Red Crescent or other humanitarian organisation is an asset. Knowledge of the Red Cross and Red Crescent
  • Fluent in Arabic and English, verbal and written
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Committed to working as part of a team
  • Self-supporting in computers (Windows, Excel, Word)
