The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) is an independent humanitarian organization of public utility, is permanent and continuous, and has a legal entity and enjoys financial and administrative independence.
SARC was founded in 1942 according to the decrees No/540/ 1942 and No/117/ 1966, which regulate the Organization’s work. It was recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva (ICRC) in 1946, and is committed to upholding the Geneva Conventions and the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies.

Roles & Responsibilities
Main Role
The Internal Audit Officer is responsible for the day to day internal audit activities within SARC, ensuring independent and objective assurance designed to improve the operations at SARC. The Internal Audit Officer shall run audit assignments in a systematic, disciplined approach, to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and fraud in compliance with the internal audit governing policies and procedures.
Operational Roles and Responsibilities
§  Adhere to the documented guidelines, policies, and procedures, and follow the instructions of the Internal Audit Director for all day to day internal audit operational tasks.

§  Conduct under the supervision of the Director, SARC’s risk identification and assessment, and support in maintaining a proper and up to date risk register.

§  Develop the audit plan, and ensure it covers all required departments and all aspects of risk management, internal controls, and fraud.

§  Develop the relevant audit programs for the varied departments and execute the audit plan accordingly.

§  Assist all stakeholders in developing corrective measures, as deemed suitable.

§  Follow up with SARC’s varied department and report to the Director regarding the corrective measure development and implementation.

§  Prepare draft audit reports summarizing all findings, recommendations, and corrective measures.

§  Maintain constructive relationships with other personnel encountered in the course of their duties, while ensuring compliance with objectivity and independence in conducting internal audit activities.

§  Assist in fraud detection and in reporting and investigating any suspected fraudulent activity.

§  Any other related duties to meet the ongoing organizational needs.

Education and Certifications
§  Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Economics, or any related field

§  Certifications in internal audit field (CIA and other alike) is a plus

§  Very Good In English and Arabic
Function Specific Experience
§  Experience in internal audit, consulting, and related fields
Industry Related Experience
§  Experience in similar volunteer-based organizations or humanitarian organizations preferred
Years of Experience
§  At least 5 years of relevant experience
