The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)on  October 27, 2014, handed over  15 trucks, 2 four-wheel drive vehicles and 23 protective jackets and helmets to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC). The donation is part of the WFP ongoing  support to enhance the capacity of volunteers to continue to carry out their work of delivering humanitarian assistance across Syria. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement deplores the death of two aid workers in Syria

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is shocked and saddened by the death of Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) volunteers Ikhlas Ibraheem al-Sulaiman and Muhammad Ahmad Othman, of the Homs Branch, who were killed on 7 November. Ms. al-Sulaiman and Mr. Othman were members of the Homs Branch psycho-social team. They were killed when a mortar shell hit a civilian area of Homs as they transported supplies to be used as part of a joint SARC-UNICEF psycho-social project that helps children traumatized by the conflict. Disaster Management Advanced Training Course for SARC Volunteers

Within a new forward move in training and rehabilitating field, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent organized an advanced training course titling “Disaster Management” on 14- 17/12/2014, in Damascus. The course which, brought together 37 volunteers from all the SARC’s branches in the Syrian governorates, is the first of its kind within the crisis since it addressed various subjects as evaluation, registration, distribution, operation room management, logistics, securing water in cases of emergency, communication skills, leadership skills, coordination, human resources management and information and reports management.
