Providing Emergency Relief for people fleeing from Doukhaniyah and Kabas areas


On a course of two days 7th and 8th September, 2014. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent Intervention Field teams of the Disaster Management Units – Damascus branch implemented an emergency response to people fleeing from Dukhania and Kabas areas. Registration and distribution teams were existed around the clock to decrease the suffering of these families who fled to the areas of: Dwar Beitra, Soufaniya, Khoula park, Zahira parks, Bustan al-Dour and al-Amin street. Securing food, potable water and health care to people arriving in al_duwair


Due to the recent events in the areas of Kabbas and Dukhaniyah, and the fleeing of number of families to Duwair camp in Rural Damascus. Sheltering and registration teams of the Disaster management Unit from SARC’s Damascus branch implemented an emergency response to meet their needs. Where they distributed food materials including food parcels, can food, hygiene kits, towels, kitchen sets, mats, plastic rolls, candels, blankets ,mattresses and new born kits. Thirteen Metric Tons of medical aid reaches Rural Daraa


On 13th of September, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent teams with a support from the world Health Organization (WHO) delivered 13 metric tons of life saving medical supplies including chronic diseases, antibiotics and children medications to Rural Daraa. The SARC teams handed out these supplies to health care delegates of nine health centers in towns and villages in the western and north-western and north-eastern rural of Daraa: Busr al-Harir, Tafas, al-Harak, Nahta, Mliha, Jasem, Nemr, al-Hara and Nawa. Netherlands Red Cross visit to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent


A delegation from the Netherlands Red Cross consists of  Mrs. Hanna Emmering, Press Officer for the NRC, Mr. Gijs de Vries (CEO) and Mr. Juriaan Lahr (Head International Operations) paid a visit to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent from the 29th of August till 2nd of Sept, 2014 to conduct a field visit at SARC’s centers and identify the needs. The visit started with field tour to SARC’s centers in Homs governorate and a visit to the old city of Homs. A Central Training Course for SARC water and sanitation teams


The SARC organized a training course for water and sanitation team over five days this month, to equip volunteers with the skills to react quickly when communities need water or sanitation help. The training covered both theory and practical skills.  At the end of the training the volunteers receive field training and conduct a visit to water local boards pumping station in al-Mazraa area – Damascus. The aim of this training was to increase knowledge of water tank installation processes and improve SARC volunteers’ expertise to respond quickly and coordinate with the Water authorities.
