President of the Syrian Arab Red Cross, Dr. Abdul Rrahman Attar met with Mr. Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, who was in three days visit to Damascus. Dr. Attar discussed issues of bond cooperation between the two organizations, and ensured the necessity to enhance the mutual exerted efforts in response to the increasing humanitarian needs, and to alleviate affected people’s suffering. convoy to Al-Mouadameh

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent managed to deliver 19 trucks’ convoy to Al-Mouadameh area south Damascus. The delivery contained school needs and facilities like: chairs, tables as well as 1250 boxes of winter clothes for children, 35 creative sets for early childhood, 70 creative sets for school students, 250 hygiene kits for newly born babies and 72 stationary sets that each can satisfy 40 student. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent worked along with the Syrian Government and in cooperation with the UNICEF to carry out this mission.

Training on the principles of Operational Communication for SARC communication officers

Damascus) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) organized a training workshop for SARC communication officers on the principles of operational communication. The workshop took place between the 28th of September and the 1st of October and brought together 14 communication officers from all 14 SARC branches in the country’s governorates. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)on  October 27, 2014, handed over  15 trucks, 2 four-wheel drive vehicles and 23 protective jackets and helmets to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC). The donation is part of the WFP ongoing  support to enhance the capacity of volunteers to continue to carry out their work of delivering humanitarian assistance across Syria. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement deplores the death of two aid workers in Syria

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is shocked and saddened by the death of Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) volunteers Ikhlas Ibraheem al-Sulaiman and Muhammad Ahmad Othman, of the Homs Branch, who were killed on 7 November. Ms. al-Sulaiman and Mr. Othman were members of the Homs Branch psycho-social team. They were killed when a mortar shell hit a civilian area of Homs as they transported supplies to be used as part of a joint SARC-UNICEF psycho-social project that helps children traumatized by the conflict.
