The Syrian Arab Red Crescent and in cooperation with Ministry of Health and World Health Organization delivered two trucks, loaded with medical items, to the Eastern Ghota area on July 23rd 2015. The medical items consisted of dialysis materials for 500 sessions, routine vaccines, 2000 insulin vial, four diabetes testing devices, 7600 baby milk, 4000 notorious biscuit, 3600 peanut butter, 3040 antibiotic and 1500 intestinal antiseptic. All mentioned items were handed out to SARC sub-branch in Duma city.
Under the motto “Our Principles, Our Move”, The Mediterranean Conference of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent Societies was held in San Marino Republic. The conference, which brought 26 national societies together, took place on May 25th 2015. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent delegation and under the presidency of Dr. Abdul Rahman Attar, President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, attended the conference. Based on an invitation from the Germany Red Cross (GRC), Dr. Abdul Rahmar Attar, President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, paid a visit to GRC in Berlin on May 28-30th 2015. During the visit, Dr.Attar met with Mr. Rudolf Zeiters, GRC President, and Mr. Christian Reuter, GRC General Secretary. The two parties discussed means of cooperation enhancement, while Mr. Zeiters presented a press release in which he highly appreciated the Syrian Arab Red Crescent work. Due to the current hard circumstances in Al-Hassakeh city, many families were forced out of their homes to safer neighborhoods in the city and to Al-Qamishli, Amouda, Al-Dirbasieh and Tel-Tamer areas. Therefore, The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) responded immediately and started evaluating the sheltering centers (49 centers) in the mentioned areas. Then, SARC’s water teams distributed 4800 water bottle to 2600 beneficiaries and installed four central water tanks (500 liter) in Sffaia area. The Hygiene promotion team also distributed 121 hygiene kits to about 726 displaced people with 460 child among them in the sheltering centers in Al-Qamishli city.
In coordination with all active parties on ground, joint exerted efforts by the Disaster Management teams of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent in Damascus branch and Damascus Rural branch managed to deliver the first convoy of food and non-food relief aid items to Bluedan town on June 1st 2015. The convoy, which is provided by the UN offices, contained: 1000 food parcel, 1000 hygiene parcel, 300 diapers for olds, 1000 baby diapers and 1000 sanitary napkin.
