IFRC Secretary General visits Syria

On 21 December 2014, Dr. Abdul Rahman Attar, President of the Syrian Arab  Red Crescent, welcomed Mr. Elhadj As Sy, Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), at the Headquarters of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) in Damascus, where Mr. Sy was briefed about the activities of the Organization. Dr. Attar meets the Assistant Secretary- General Regional Humanitarian Coordinator

25/1/2015  The Syrian Arab Red Crescent President, Dr. Abdul Rahman Attar met the Assistant Secretary- General Regional Humanitarian Coordinator, Mr. Kevin M. Kennedy and with the attendance of Mr. Yacoub al-Helo, the Representative of the UN Development Program and Coordinator of UN Humanitarian Aid in Syria. The meeting, which took place at the SARC’s headquarters in Damascus, involved discussions about the active working international organizations that cooperate with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent in providing humanitarian aid. British Red Cross Visits SARC

The British Red Cross delegation arrived in Damascus for two day visit on 19/1/2015. The delegation that represented by both Ms. Julia Brothwell and Dr. Hosam Faysal, Syrian Crisis Program’ Directors, paid visits to Dair sheltering center, the collective kitchen in Jaramana and the SARC’s central relief center in Al-Mayssat area. During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the SARC’s activities and services in the relief field; so to be able to identify the Organization’s needs. Eventually, the delegation praised SARC’s exerted efforts in humanitarian aid

SARC’s Water and Sanitations Teams’ Activities in Nov, 2014.

Within their endeavors to complete the water project, SARC’s Water & Sanitation Teams and in cooperation with ICRC, carried out various tasks all over the Syrian governorates in Nov, 2014. The team managed to deliver calibration items, sterilization pills and chlorine pumps in Damascus countryside (Al-Mouadamieh, Barzeh), Al-Swayda, Qounaytera, Homs (Houla, Talbiseh, Al-Rastan), Raqqa and Deir Ezzor. Regarding water distribution, the team installed a lot of Oxfam tanks, and maintained some already installed ones.
