World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day: Syrian Arab Red Crescent Volunteers on the Frontlines


Amid the deteriorating humanitarian situation, Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) volunteers remain active on frontlines across Syria. Together with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), volunteers continue to defy the challenges faced in delivering neutral and impartial humanitarian assistance to millions of people in need. Emergency response- maintenance of 700mm water line in Deir Ezzor governorate


Under the framework of joint water project between the SARC and the ICRC, the SARC water team of Deir Ezzor branch in cooperation with Water Establishment conducted an emergency repair for 700mm water line in al-Wasat street in Deir Ezzor governorate. Approximately 200,000 people benefit from this line which supports many areas in Deir Ezzor city. The SARC facilitated and provided logistical support to local water board’s workers in addition; the SARC obtained a ceasefire for two days which in turn secured safe access to the maintenance area which is a clashes area.


The aid got through Douma for the second time in March


On March 29, the SARC teams in collaboration with the United Nations offices in Syria resumed its second convoy to reach Douma city, which has been besieged since 18 months. The convoy consisting of 14 trucks loaded with 1,000 food parcels, 2,821 hygiene kits, 1,000 baby diapers, 1,008 sanitary napkins, 2,000 plastic rolls, 80 boxes of soap, 40 boxes of peanut butter, 80 boxes of high energy biscuit, 177 bottles, 0.5  (Reproductive health) RH kit 2A to be used by the pregnant woman and one (Reproductive health) RH kit 2B to be used by the Midwife. Canadian Red Cross visit


The Canadian Red Cross Secretary General, Mr. Conrad Sauvé and Mr. Hossam Elsharkawi, Director of Emergencies and Recovery for International Operations, in a visit to the First Aid and Disaster Response Operation Center and logistics hub of the SARC.  


Joint statement – Syria crisis, 3 years on: the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement calls for an end to the humanitarian tragedy


14 March 2014, Damascus/Geneva (SARC/IFRC/ICRC) In the three years since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, the situation has developed into a humanitarian disaster of appalling dimensions. More than 9 million Syrians are in need of urgent assistance, including 6.5 million people displaced inside their own country, half of them children, struggling to survive amid the fighting.
