The Sweden Red Cross Delegation Visits Syria


The Sweden Red Cross Delegation paid a visit to Syria on 13/1/2015. The delegation consists of the General Secretary, Ms.Ulricka Kagstrom, and her office manager, Eleina Erlandson, as well as the International Relationship Manager, Mr.Malkir Mabak, and The Communication Officer, Ms. Carin Tenghby. The delegation met the President of The Syrian Arab Red Crescent Dr. Abdul Rahman Attar and discussed issues related to SARC’s activities. Psychological Support Team Launch New Training Course


Within the increasing number of the affected people resulting from the deteriorating situation in Syria, the workload weighing heavily down SARC’s Psychological Support Team.  These huge tasks prompted the team to develop its staff members’ skills, so to carry out the psychological care services perfectly. Based on the need for skills development, The Syrian Arab Red Crescent and in cooperation with the UNICEF, organized four day training course in Damascus with title of “Therapeutic interventions & Consultations”. Dr. Attar meets the Assistant Secretary- General Regional Humanitarian Coordinator


25/1/2015  The Syrian Arab Red Crescent President, Dr. Abdul Rahman Attar met the Assistant Secretary- General Regional Humanitarian Coordinator, Mr. Kevin M. Kennedy and with the attendance of Mr. Yacoub al-Helo, the Representative of the UN Development Program and Coordinator of UN Humanitarian Aid in Syria. The meeting, which took place at the SARC’s headquarters in Damascus, involved discussions about the active working international organizations that cooperate with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent in providing humanitarian aid. SARC’s Water and Sanitations Teams’ Activities in Nov, 2014.


Within their endeavors to complete the water project, SARC’s Water & Sanitation Teams and in cooperation with ICRC, carried out various tasks all over the Syrian governorates in Nov, 2014. The team managed to deliver calibration items, sterilization pills and chlorine pumps in Damascus countryside (Al-Mouadamieh, Barzeh), Al-Swayda, Qounaytera, Homs (Houla, Talbiseh, Al-Rastan), Raqqa and Deir Ezzor. Regarding water distribution, the team installed a lot of Oxfam tanks, and maintained some already installed ones. They distributed drinkable water on daily bases, and supported Quneitera Water Establishment by securing the drinkable water to all sheltering centers. Training Workshop for Water and Sanitation Teams


The Syrian Arab Red Crescent in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross  organized a training course in Electricity Supplies specialized for water supplies on Oct 13, 14, 15 2014. The mentioned workshop brought together SARC water engineers who are in need to acknowledge basics in electricity networks.
