Damascus, 30 March 2017 – Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) mourns the volunteer Firas Al-Hussein who lost his life on Monday March 27, 2017 in Al-Tabaqa area in Raqqa governorate while on duty. In cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Relief sub-committee, Syrian Arab Red Crescent delivered a humanitarian relief aid convoy to Sanamain, Deir Bukht, Jbab and Mothbeen villages in Rural Dara’a on March 15, 2017. The convoy was loaded with 8000 food parcels, 6000 hygiene parcels, 3000 canned food parcels, mats, moquette, diapers for baby and old and school bags. These relief aid is estimated to reach more than 50.000 beneficiaries in the mentioned areas.
On Tuesday, March 14, 2017, two humanitarian relief aid convoys reached Madaya and Zabadani in Rural Damascus & Foaa and Kafriya in Rural Idleb. The relief aid, which contains food parcels, nutrients, medical items and flour, will cover the needs of 60.000 people in the four mentioned towns. On the same time, SARC teams had their humanitarian role as they transferred 13 humanitarian cases from the mentioned areas. More than 3500 tons of humanitarian aid reached to approximately 100.000 persons in Deir Ezzour city as SARC and WFP had the airdrop operation No 200 successfully done on 6/3/2017. The mentioned airdrops deliveries started to reach the city on 10/4/2016 where SARC- Deir Ezzour branch managed collection and distribution operation in coordination with the Relief sub-committee there. These humanitarian aid supported by the WFP contained rice, beans, lentil, crushed wheat, hummus, sugar, salt, cooking oil and bread yeast.
